Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct, trauma-informed support to clients, assisting with activities of daily living, skill development, and crisis intervention using a strengths-based approach.
  • Facilitate and support therapeutic group workshops and individual discussions on topics like life skills, coping strategies, and relapse prevention.
  • Perform client intake, complete necessary documentation, and maintain accurate records and care plans.
  • Monitor clients’ physical and psychological well-being, taking vital signs and observing for changes, reporting concerns to primary care providers.
  • Administer medications, provide reminders, and document according to strict policies and treatment plans.
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to participate in case planning and support discharge planning.
  • Connect clients with community resources and services, acting as a supportive advocate.
  • Help maintain a safe, secure, and therapeutic environment for all clients.

Qualifications

Your Education and Experience:

  • Grade 12 graduation, plus completion of a recognized Substance Use Certificate or Social Service Worker program.
  • One (1) year of recent, related experience working in the addictions field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A valid Standard First Aid – CPR C certificate with automated external defibrillator (AED) training.

Your Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of addiction, mental health, and related social issues.
  • Strong ability to build rapport, demonstrate empathy, and maintain professional boundaries with clients.
  • Proven crisis intervention and conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Competence in organizing, prioritizing tasks, and working both independently and cooperatively within a team.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
