Key Responsibilities

Provide direct, trauma-informed support to clients, assisting with activities of daily living, skill development, and crisis intervention using a strengths-based approach.
Facilitate and support therapeutic group workshops and individual discussions on topics like life skills, coping strategies, and relapse prevention.
Perform client intake, complete necessary documentation, and maintain accurate records and care plans.
Monitor clients’ physical and psychological well-being, taking vital signs and observing for changes, reporting concerns to primary care providers.
Administer medications, provide reminders, and document according to strict policies and treatment plans.
Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to participate in case planning and support discharge planning.
Connect clients with community resources and services, acting as a supportive advocate.
Help maintain a safe, secure, and therapeutic environment for all clients.

Qualifications

Your Education and Experience:

Grade 12 graduation, plus completion of a recognized Substance Use Certificate or Social Service Worker program.
One (1) year of recent, related experience working in the addictions field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
A valid Standard First Aid – CPR C certificate with automated external defibrillator (AED) training.

Your Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of addiction, mental health, and related social issues.
Strong ability to build rapport, demonstrate empathy, and maintain professional boundaries with clients.
Proven crisis intervention and conflict resolution skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
Competence in organizing, prioritizing tasks, and working both independently and cooperatively within a team.
Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
