 Key Responsibilities

As the Certified Welding Inspector on site, you will have full oversight and responsibility for all welding quality. Your core duties will include:

  • Providing full-time, close supervision of all welding works on the Jurong Island site for the duration of the pipe laying activities, ensuring strict compliance with project specifications and SS 510:2005 safety codes.
  • Inspecting and verifying that every welded pipe joint is executed with proper workmanship, is free from defects, corrosion, and potential leakage points.
  • Completing, signing, and maintaining detailed checklists for each welded joint, accurately recording location, date, time, inspection type, and test results to ensure full traceability.
  • Acting as the on-site welding quality authority, ensuring all welding procedures and personnel qualifications align with contract requirements and approved standards.
  • Liaising with project management and construction teams to immediately address any quality or procedural non-conformances and implement corrective actions.

Qualifications

This specialized role demands specific and verifiable credentials. The mandatory requirements are:

  • Possession of a valid American Welding Society (AWS) Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification. Equivalent certifications to BS EN standards may be considered subject to approval.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant working experience in welding inspection, preferably within the pipeline, petrochemical, or heavy civil construction industries.
  • A Diploma in Engineering or an equivalent technical qualification.
  • In-depth knowledge of welding codes, safety standards (especially SS 510:2005), and non-destructive testing (NDT) methods.
  • The ability to be stationed full-time on the project site on Jurong Island for the duration of the pipe laying works.
  • Meticulous attention to detail, strong communication skills, and an unwavering commitment to safety and quality.
