What You Will Be Doing
- You will provide clothing and linen support services by ensuring the collection, distribution, processing, and inventory of linens and personal clothing.
- You will sort linens, load and unload washers and dryers, and perform ironing and mending as required.
- You will fold, sort, and load linen and clothing onto carts for distribution and delivery, auditing items for labels and needed repairs.
- You will discard and record inappropriate inventory when necessary, following proper procedures.
- You will maintain high sanitation standards, keeping your work area and equipment clean and tidy while applying infection control protocols.
- You will follow cleaning schedules and routines for the department, ensuring the proper care and economical use of resources.
- You will observe the operation of machines and report any malfunctions to your team leader.
- You will assist in maintaining laundry facilities, equipment, and supplies.
- You will complete cleaning duties as outlined in the laundry room area.
- You will maintain a clean, safe environment for residents, always utilizing infection control principles.
- You will support and participate in quality initiatives by providing input and suggestions for improvement.
- You will perform other duties as assigned to support the team and community.
What We Are Looking For
Must Haves:
- You are a secondary school graduate or equivalent.
- You have knowledge related to infection control, cleaning practices, housekeeping operations, and equipment.
- You can work independently or as part of a team.
- You can communicate effectively with team members and residents.
- You must successfully pass the prescribed Vulnerable Sector Check (applicable to Ontario applicants).
Bonus Points For:
- Previous experience in Institutional Cleaning or Laundry in Long Term Care or a Retirement Residence is desirable.
