About the Role

As a Laundry Attendant at Canossa Hospital, you’ll play a key role in maintaining a clean, safe, and hygienic environment for patients, staff, and visitors. You’ll be responsible for the proper handling, cleaning, and distribution of all hospital linens, including bed sheets, patient gowns, towels, and other fabrics. Your attention to detail will ensure that every item meets our strict quality and hygiene standards. You’ll operate washing machines and small pressing machines, inspect fabrics for damage or wear, and assist with inventory and receiving tasks. This is a hands-on role that requires physical fitness, reliability, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.

Key Responsibilities

• Linen Handling and Distribution: Safely and efficiently handle, sort, and distribute all hospital linens, including bed sheets, patient gowns, towels, and other fabrics, to various departments as needed.
• Machine Operation: Operate industrial washing machines and small pressing machines according to established procedures, ensuring all items are cleaned and pressed to the highest standards.
• Fabric Inspection: Carefully inspect all fabrics for damage, stains, or wear, reporting any issues to supervisors and ensuring that only items meeting quality standards are put into circulation.
• Receiving and Inventory: Assist with daily receiving of new linen supplies and participate in periodic inventory counts to maintain accurate records and ensure adequate stock levels.
• Environmental Cleanliness: Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in the laundry area, following all health and safety protocols and infection control guidelines.
• Team Collaboration: Work closely with nursing and logistics teams to ensure timely delivery of linens and effective communication regarding any special requirements or urgent needs.
• Adherence to Standards: Follow all hospital policies, procedures, and quality standards related to laundry services, infection control, and workplace safety.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Education: Primary 6 education or above.
• Physical Fitness: Must be physically fit and able to handle manual work, including lifting, carrying, and standing for extended periods.
• Teamwork: Strong team spirit with the ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with nursing and logistics teams.
• Literacy Skills: Basic reading and writing skills in Chinese and/or English to understand instructions and complete required documentation.
• Experience: Previous experience in hospitals, hotels, or commercial laundries is preferred but not required—training will be provided for the right candidate.
• Work Ethic: Reliable, punctual, and committed to maintaining high standards of quality and hygiene.
• Adaptability: Willingness to learn new skills and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
