Key Responsibilities
- Assist tāngata whaiora with daily routines including meals, personal hygiene, and household tasks
- Support individuals in building independence and confidence in daily living
- Help implement health and wellness plans, including medication administration (training provided)
- Facilitate participation in community and cultural activities
- Maintain a safe, welcoming, and warm residential environment
- Attend team hui (meetings) and engage in ongoing learning and development opportunities
- Work collaboratively with Kaitātaki (Team Leaders) and other kaimahi to deliver high quality support
Qualifications
Applicants should demonstrate a calm, caring, and respectful approach to supporting others. Willingness to learn about kaupapa Māori values and practices is essential. Strong communication skills, teamwork, and flexibility to work rotating shifts—including days, evenings, weekends, and public holidays—are required. A full driver’s licence and access to reliable transport are essential. Previous experience in mental health, disability, or working with vulnerable adults is advantageous. NZ Certificate in Health & Wellbeing (Level 2 or above) is desirable but not required.
