Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior technicians in carrying out transmission cable jointing and sealing end assembly work for high voltage cables.
- Support the installation, operation, and maintenance of transmission cable system accessories and associated alarms.
- Work alongside transmission cable fitters to perform cable fluid treatment and fluid feeding for transmission cables during jointing and operation and maintenance activities.
- Assist engineers in conducting tests and works on transmission cable systems, ensuring compliance with technical standards.
- Conduct cable patrols to identify and prevent potential damage to underground cables, contributing to the security and reliability of the network.
- Interpret assembly drawings, operation and maintenance manuals, and other technical documents to execute tasks accurately.
- Adhere to all safety procedures and work collaboratively with team members to maintain a safe and efficient work environment.
Qualifications
Candidates must hold a Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination or Diploma of Secondary Education with passes in both English and Chinese language. Completion of a Craft Apprenticeship in Cable Jointer (Power) or equivalent is required. A minimum of five years of relevant working experience in power cable jointing work at 132 kilovolts or above is essential, along with knowledge and basic skills in this specialized field. Self discipline, self motivation, and good communication and interpersonal skills are important. The ability to understand simple English, interpret drawings, and work outdoors performing manual tasks is required. A valid driving licence for Class 1, 2, and 18 is an advantage.
