Key Responsibilities

As a Welder at DIS-TRAN, you will be responsible for producing high-quality, code-compliant welds on critical steel structures. Your day will be hands-on and varied, with core duties including:

  • Reading and accurately interpreting blueprints and layout specifications to determine welding requirements.
  • Setting up, aligning, and welding steel components in the flat position using Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW/MIG) processes to form complete structures.
  • Safely operating overhead cranes and other moving machinery to position heavy steel parts for welding.
  • Examining your own work and finished pieces with weld gauges to ensure they meet all specification standards and quality procedures.
  • Cleaning and preparing welds using grinders and other standard shop tools to achieve a finished product.
  • Maintaining a steadfast commitment to safety by consistently using all required personal protective equipment (PPE) and adhering to safe work habits.

Qualifications

We are looking for reliable, quality-focused individuals with the following background:

  • The ability to read and interpret detailed blueprints is a firm requirement.
  • Proficiency in using a tape measure and strong basic math skills for precise calculations are essential.
  • Welding certification or prior professional welding experience is preferred, with specific experience in GMAW (MIG) welding being a significant advantage.
  • Experience or certification in the safe operation of moving machinery like overhead cranes is a strong plus.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
