 Key Responsibilities

In this pivotal role, you will be the expert responsible for the integrity and performance of all electrical power generation systems. Your duties will encompass:

  • Maintaining the highest priority of safety in the workplace, ensuring full compliance with all Environmental, Safety, Health (ESH), and Quality Assurance protocols.
  • Performing preventive maintenance, inspection, and repair on critical electrical components, including switchgear, generators, control circuits, contactors, and relays, following strict procedures and manufacturer specifications.
  • Proactively monitoring power generation operations to ensure efficient and economical performance, promptly troubleshooting and repairing electrical faults to minimize downtime.
  • Maintaining meticulous documentation of all maintenance activities, system logs, and inventory with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Providing hands-on training to Power Plant Operators and Mechanics on system operations and equipment, and acting as a reliable technical resource for the Utilities Supervisor.
  • Responding to and managing power outages or equipment failures, which may require working rotating shifts (day, swing, or night) and performing work outdoors in extreme cold weather conditions.

Qualifications

This role demands a specific and proven skill set. Candidates must meet the following essential requirements:

Required Education, Experience and Licenses:

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • A current Journeyman or Master Electrician license (or equivalent Union standing) based on a minimum of 8,000 hours of training. Residential-type licenses are not applicable.
  • A minimum of four years (8,000 hours) of documented, hands-on experience in all phases of electrical work, with at least two years specifically in power distribution wiring and the maintenance/repair of power plant switchgear and control panels.

Required Skills And Competencies:

  • Proficient ability to read and interpret electrical design drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
  • Thorough, practical knowledge of the methods, hazards, and safety protocols related to diesel engines and diesel-driven electric generators.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a high-stakes environment.
  • Professional communication skills, both written and verbal, and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen and able to obtain and maintain required facility credentials, which includes successful completion of a Federal Background Check, medical-dental exams, and drug screening.

Highly Preferred:

  • Experience with remote polar or austere environment logistics operations.
  • Hands-on experience working with a wide range of AC and DC voltages (from 12V up to 4160V).
  • Additional mechanical, construction, or industrial experience.
