Key Responsibilities
As a key member of our field service team, you will be deployed to handle critical repairs and ensure vessel uptime. Your primary responsibilities will be:
- Conducting field service attendances to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain a wide range of shipboard equipment including Deck Cranes, Grabs, Windlasses, Hatch Cover Hydraulics, and Davits.
- Applying in-depth knowledge to diagnose faults in PLC-controlled electro-hydraulic systems, electrical circuits, and mechanical components.
- Reading and interpreting complex electrical and hydraulic schematics to guide repair work accurately.
- Leading repair projects on board vessels, during voyages, or in shipyards, supervising teams of mechanics as the Lead Engineer.
- Preparing clear, detailed technical reports and communicating effectively with vessel owners’ representatives and crew.
- Ensuring all work is completed to the highest safety and quality standards.
Qualifications
This is a senior position requiring substantial hands-on experience and specialist knowledge.
Essential Requirements:
- A minimum of 5 years of solid, hands-on experience in the inspection, troubleshooting, and repair of Marine Cranes, Windlasses, and hydraulic systems.
- In-depth, practical knowledge of PLC-controlled electro-hydraulic cranes and deck machinery.
- Proficiency in reading and comprehending electrical and hydraulic diagrams.
- The proven ability to independently diagnose and resolve complex electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical faults.
- Experience in supervising technical teams and leading large repair projects as a Lead Engineer.
- Excellent technical report writing and professional communication skills.
Mandatory Experience: Demonstrable working experience with major marine crane and deck machinery manufacturers such as MacGREGOR, IHI, MITSUBISHI, LIEBHERR, TTS MARINE, TSUJI, HATLAPA, PUSNES, or NIPPON PUSNES.
Highly Desirable Advantages:
- Sailing experience as an Electrical Officer (E/O) on bulk carriers with deck cranes.
- Previous employment as a Service Engineer with a leading deck crane manufacturer.
- Specific experience with Variable Frequency Drives (VFD).
