Key Responsibilities

You will be entrusted with the safe and timely transport of logs, a critical link in the supply chain. Your core duties will include:

• Safely operating a logging truck to transport loads from various locations in Southern Alberta to our Cochrane sawmill.
• Conducting thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure optimal mechanical condition and safety compliance.
• Adhering to all DOT regulations, company safety policies, and site-specific rules, including proficiently chaining up when required.
• Coordinating the secure loading and unloading of logs, verifying cargo, and managing all necessary shipping documentation.
• Maintaining clear and professional communication with dispatch to provide updates and report any delays or issues.

Qualifications

This specialized role requires proven experience in challenging conditions. The successful candidate must possess:

Mandatory Requirements:

• A valid Class 1 or AZ driver’s licence.
• A clean commercial driving abstract for the past 5 years (no more than 3 demerits and 3 negative events).
• Minimum 1-2 years of Class 1 driving experience.
• Minimum 1 year of logging and or off-road driving experience.
• Demonstrated mountain driving experience on bush roads in severe terrain, in both winter and summer conditions.
• Proficiency with a manual transmission.
• Willingness and ability to chain tires as needed.
• Excellent communication, customer service skills, and comfort with smartphone technology.
• Must be bondable and legally eligible to work in Canada.
