Key Responsibilities

As a Rural and Suburban Mail Carrier, you will be entrusted with the safe and timely delivery of mail. Your core duties will include:

  • Sorting mail and preparing your route for efficient delivery.
  • Operating your personal vehicle to deliver and collect mail in all weather and traffic conditions across rural and suburban areas.
  • Projecting a courteous and professional manner during any customer interactions.
  • Processing various postal services and ensuring all mail is securely handled.
  • Learning and maintaining detailed knowledge of local roads, customers, and delivery points.
  • Ensuring your Canada Post identification is visible while on duty.

Qualifications

We are looking for a responsible candidate with the right vehicle and driving record. The essential requirements are:

  • Must reside within 75 km of the Saint-Ambroise Post Office. Proficiency in French is essential.
  • Must possess a valid permanent provincial Class 5 or G driver’s license and provide a satisfactory driver’s abstract (dated within the last 30 days).
  •  Must provide, maintain, and insure a personal vehicle that meets strict Canada Post specifications, including:
  • A minimum cargo capacity of 50 cu ft (1415 liters).
  • Automatic transmission, power windows, a metal roof, and a hatchback/fifth door (preferred).
  • Specific window sill height and interior width measurements.
  •  Must be able to lift and carry items up to 50 lb (22.7 kg).
  •  Must be willing and able to pass a pre-employment test and interview.
