About the Farm And Role
We operate a 240-cow pedigree Friesian autumn calving herd on a 245ha property, utilising modern technology including a 28-bail rotary shed with Protrack and Alflex collars. We are a comprehensive, self-sufficient unit, managing all aspects from feeding and effluent to silage, cropping, and earthworks in-house. This role is hands-on and varied, ideal for someone who enjoys seeing a job through from start to finish as part of a close-knit team.
Your Key Responsibilities
Working alongside the farm team, your daily and seasonal tasks will include:
- Milking in our modern herringbone shed, following best-practice animal husbandry.
- Feeding out supplements on the feed pad and managing grazing rotations.
- Operating machinery for effluent management, cropping, and general farm maintenance.
- Assisting with all young stock work, as all calves are reared on the property.
- Contributing to seasonal work such as silage making, cultivation, and fertilizer application.
- Maintaining high standards of animal welfare, pasture management, and farm presentation.
What You Will Bring
We are looking for a team player who is committed to a career in dairying. The successful candidate will have:
- A minimum of 2 years of hands-on dairy farming experience.
- Honesty, reliability, and a strong, positive work ethic.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment.
- Physical fitness and a practical, problem-solving approach to daily tasks.
- At least a New Zealand restricted driver’s licence; a full licence is preferred.
- Tractor and general machinery experience is a significant advantage.
- The ability to pass a pre-employment drug test.
- Legal eligibility to work full-time in New Zealand.
