Key Responsibilities

As an Artisan (Fitter/Welder), you will be deployed on a variety of hands-on tasks critical to maintaining government assets. Your primary duties will include:

• Performing general metal fitting, cutting, and welding work for the fabrication and repair of departmental equipment and structures.
• Conducting repairs and maintenance on a range of marine equipment and government vessel components.
• Working both in workshop settings and on-site at Marine Police Forward Bases or aboard government vessels as required.
• Adhering strictly to all safety procedures and wearing appropriate uniform and protective clothing at all times.
• Being prepared to perform emergency or shift duties and work outdoors in remote areas or under rigorous conditions when necessary.

Qualifications

Candidates must satisfy the following entry requirements:

• Have either (i) completed an approved apprenticeship-training in Fitting; Fitting and Turning; Fitting and Welding; or Cutting and Welding; OR (ii) at least four years’ experience in one of these trades.
• Have completed Primary 6 education or equivalent.
• Have attained proficiency in Chinese and English Languages equivalent to Primary 6 standard.
• Be able to pass a trade test at the appropriate level.
• A pass result in the Basic Law and National Security Law Test is a mandatory entry requirement. Arrangements can be made for candidates to take this test during the recruitment process if needed.
• Must be a permanent resident of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region at the time of appointment.
