About the Position

This is a full-time, Monday to Friday position at a childcare centre located in Novena. You will play a dual role that is central to the health and well-being of our children and staff. Your Key Responsibilities

Your day will be focused on nourishment and cleanliness, supporting both our kitchen and classroom environments.

• Plan, prepare, and cook daily meals and snacks for children and staff, ensuring meals are nutritious, appealing, and meet basic dietary guidelines.
• Maintain the highest standards of food safety, hygiene, and cleanliness in all kitchen, pantry, and food preparation areas.
• Perform thorough daily cleaning of classrooms, including floors, surfaces, and toys.
• Clean and sanitise children’s toilets and all common areas multiple times a day.
• Manage supplies, refilling items as needed, and responsibly disposing of all rubbish.
• Assist with additional food preparation and service during centre events or special occasions.

What We’re Looking For

• A valid Food Handling Certificate (FHC) Food Hygiene Certificate is required.
• Knowledge of basic food safety, sanitation, and hygiene practices.
• A warm, patient, and reliable nature, with an understanding of a childcare setting’s needs.
• Physically able to handle cleaning duties and stand for periods while cooking.
• No prior experience in a similar role is needed – we provide full, on-the-job training.
• Must be able to work independently and manage time effectively between kitchen and cleaning tasks.
