Ever wonder who keeps the shelves full and the aisles ready for your next shopping trip? We’re looking for someone like you to join our team as a Consumables Associate. This is a great entry point into the world of retail, where you’ll be at the heart of our store’s daily flow. You’ll play a key role in ensuring our customers find exactly what they need, from pantry staples to household essentials, all while working in a supportive and fast-paced environment. If you enjoy being active, helping people, and seeing the direct results of your work, this position is a fantastic place to start and grow your skills.

Company Overview

At Walmart Canada, we believe in making a difference in the lives of our customers and our communities. We’re more than just a retail store; we’re a gathering place, a first job for many, and a career destination for others. Our team is built on a foundation of respect, teamwork, and integrity. Working here means being part of a large family that values your contribution and supports your development. We provide opportunities to build a rewarding career, whether you’re looking to advance in retail operations, customer service, or management. Our Calgary West Hills location is a vibrant part of the community, and we’re committed to keeping it a welcoming and efficient place to shop and work.

Key Responsibilities

Your day will be dynamic, combining customer interaction with hands-on work to keep our consumables department running smoothly. Here’s what you can expect to do:

  • Provide a friendly and helpful experience for every customer, from a simple greeting to assisting them in finding products and making informed choices.
  • Take ownership of the salesfloor by stocking shelves, rotating products to ensure freshness, and creating attractive product displays that are easy to shop.
  • Process new inventory by receiving merchandise from the backroom, logging items, and using equipment safely to move stock as needed.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized shopping environment by removing damaged goods and following all company safety procedures.
  • Execute merchandising plans by setting up new modular displays, adjusting shelf layouts, and ensuring every item is correctly signed and priced.
  • Help manage inventory and loss prevention by securely handling high-value items, processing claims correctly, and referring complex transactions to a manager when necessary.

Qualifications

We are looking for reliable, energetic individuals who are ready to learn. The most important qualifications are a positive attitude and a strong work ethic.

  • A genuine desire to provide excellent customer service.
  • The ability to work efficiently both as part of a team and independently.
  • Comfort with physical tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
  • Strong attention to detail for tasks like pricing, stocking, and rotating inventory.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to follow instructions carefully.
  • Previous experience in retail or customer service is a nice-to-have, but we are fully prepared to train the right person who is eager to start their career.

Benefits and Perks

Joining our team means access to benefits that support you and your well-being. We offer a competitive starting wage, which increases based on your experience. Beyond pay, you’ll be eligible for our comprehensive benefits programs, including health and dental coverage. You’ll also enjoy a associate discount, opportunities for performance-based bonuses, and clear paths for career advancement within the company. We believe in work-life balance and will work with you to create a schedule that fits your life.
