Key Responsibilities
You will have complete operational oversight, from strategic planning to hands-on field management and team leadership.
- Manage the overall operation of the farm, coordinating all planting, cultivating, and crop harvesting activities with precision and efficiency.
- Direct a team of 16-20 people in daily tasks such as clipping, deleafing, weeding, and field clearing, ensuring productivity and safety.
- Plan crop growth strategies by critically considering factors like water saturation, light, and temperature.
- Implement and follow sustainable soy farming practices, including crop rotation, reduced-till methods, water management, and the use of cover crops.
- Maintain farm machinery, equipment, and buildings, and perform or oversee general farm duties such as mixing fertilizers and irrigation.
Qualifications
We are looking for a candidate with substantial, proven experience in farm management and a resilient work ethic.
- A minimum of 5 years or more of direct experience in agricultural field management, specifically with row crops. Formal education is not required; practical expertise is paramount.
- Proven experience in supervising a large team (16-20 people) in a farming context.
- In-depth knowledge of sustainable farming practices and the ability to implement them effectively.
- The physical capability to handle a demanding workload, including heavy lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Must be authorized to work in Canada, available to start on the specified date, and live near the job location. Proficiency in Spanish is considered a strong asset.
