Geotechnics is seeking a Field Technician to join our Onehunga team, working on exciting infrastructure projects across Auckland. You’ll be conducting geotechnical field testing, sampling, monitoring ground conditions, and working alongside engineers and clients to ensure high-quality project outcomes. What You’ll Be Doing
- Conduct Geotechnical Field Testing: You’ll be out in the field, performing tests and sampling to understand ground conditions for infrastructure projects.
- Operate Soil Sampling and Testing Equipment: Get hands-on with some heavy gear, learning to operate equipment safely and effectively.
- Perform Environmental Monitoring and Civil Lab Testing: Work across both field and lab settings, gaining a broad range of experience.
- Collect, Enter, and Process Data: Accuracy matters. You’ll collect data in the field and process it using digital tools.
- Collaborate with Engineers and Clients: Work alongside professionals to ensure project outcomes meet high standards.
- Follow IANZ Accreditation Standards: All work will be performed in accordance with our IANZ accreditation and project management system.
What You’ll Bring
- Full, Clean NZ Driver’s Licence: Essential for getting to sites across Auckland.
- NCEA Level 3 or Higher: A Bachelor of Science (Geology, Earth Sciences, Environmental Science) is preferred.
- Physical Stamina: Able to lift 20kg+ regularly and comfortable with outdoor work in all conditions.
- Some Prior Experience a Bonus: If you’ve got field or technical experience, that’s great—but we’re happy to train the right person.
- Confidence with Digital Tools: Comfortable using Excel and Word for data entry and reporting.
- Can-Do Attitude: You’re proactive, positive, and ready to get stuck in.
- Great Time Management: You can manage your day and prioritise tasks effectively.
- Top-Notch Communication: You’ll be working with engineers, clients, and team members, so clear communication is key.
- Learning Mindset: You’re keen to learn, adapt, and collaborate with others.
