Key Responsibilities
- Assemble, build, and complete maintenance on road tankers and equipment, ensuring all work meets the highest standards.
- Participate in new tanker builds and modifications, working from engineering drawings and specifications.
- Install components such as pumps, gearboxes, valves, hydraulics, and pneumatics as directed.
- Carry out fabrication of components and perform preventative maintenance and inspections.
- Undertake repairs and modifications, ensuring all machines are safe and fit for purpose.
- Overhaul, upkeep, and repair all plant machines onsite, and assist with the installation of new equipment.
- Review and advise on engineering requirements and drawings, contributing to continuous improvement.
- Actively engage in and promote safe working practices, coordinating with contractors when needed.
- Fault find, test, and remove or adjust existing fittings, fixtures, and parts, determining cost effective solutions where detailed specifications are not provided.
- Maintain effective communication with management and relevant parties, seeking advice and assistance as needed.
Qualifications
A formal trade qualification is required. Candidates must have a minimum of four years of relevant experience in fitting and turning. Experience installing, overhauling, and repairing pumps, gearboxes, valves, hydraulics, and pneumatics is essential. Knowledge and experience operating a wide range of general workshop machines and equipment is required. Excellent communication skills with a good standard of English, both written and verbal, are essential. Strong decision making skills and the ability to work as part of a team as well as on your own initiative with low level supervision are important. Experience with lathes and milling machines, MIG and TIG welding, hydraulic and pneumatic test rigs, environmental gas testing, or holding an HGV truck and trailer driver’s licence with DG conversion would be advantageous. Applicants must be based in New Zealand and have the right to work in the country.
