Key Responsibilities

  • Professionally clean and maintain resident rooms, common areas, and bathroom facilities to ensure a fresh, welcoming environment.
  • Perform general cleaning tasks including sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, dusting, and washing all surfaces.
  • Move furniture as needed to clean thoroughly and accommodate resident needs.
  • Collect, wash, iron, and return resident laundry with care and attention.
  • Maintain a tidy and organised linen storage area.
  • Replenish consumable items such as soaps, paper towels, and other supplies throughout the community.
  • Spot clean walls, furniture, windows, and sills to keep everything looking its best.
  • Collect and remove trash and debris regularly and properly.
  • Demonstrate awareness of accident and injury prevention through safe work practices, including keeping housekeeping areas tidy.
  • Identify safety concerns during daily walk-throughs and by staying updated through staff and resident communication.
  • Report any damages or maintenance needs to the maintenance team promptly.
  • Be able to respond decisively and calmly when dealing with difficult or crisis situations.
  • Maintain cleaning supply stock and notify supervisor when items need reordering.
  • Take on other duties as assigned to support the overall operation of the community.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum one year of residential or commercial cleaning experience is required.
  • Experience working in a setting with older adults is considered a strong asset.
  • Completion of High School Diploma is an asset.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification is an asset.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills when interacting with peers, residents, visitors, and operational partners.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks and solve problems as they arise.
  • Physically able to stand for extended periods, bend, squat, kneel, and lift over 20 pounds.
  • Must provide a clear Police Information Check and Vulnerable Sector Check.
  • Available to work Friday and Saturday from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM, with the potential to pick up additional shifts.
