Key Responsibilities
- Sort soiled linens, towels, and personal clothing by fabric type, colour, and level of soiling.
- Load and operate commercial washing machines and dryers according to established procedures.
- Measure and add detergents, bleaches, and other cleaning agents safely and accurately.
- Fold, stack, and organize clean linens for distribution to resident rooms, guest suites, or patient care areas.
- Inspect items for stains, damage, or excessive wear and set aside those requiring special attention or retirement.
- Maintain a clean and orderly laundry work area, sweeping floors and wiping down equipment as needed.
- Transport clean and soiled linens to and from storage areas and collection points.
- Report any equipment malfunctions or supply shortages to the supervisor promptly.
- Follow all workplace safety and infection control protocols, including proper handling of chemicals and use of personal protective equipment.
- Perform other duties consistent with the role as assigned.
Qualifications
Education:
- No degree, certificate, or diploma required.
Experience:
- Previous laundry or housekeeping experience is helpful, but we are happy to train someone with a strong work ethic and positive attitude.
Language:
- Ability to read, write, and follow simple instructions in English.
Physical Requirements:
- Physically capable of standing for extended periods, lifting, bending, and pushing/pulling laundry carts weighing up to approximately 23 kilograms (50 pounds).
- Comfortable with repetitive tasks and working in a fast-paced environment.
Personal Attributes:
- Reliable, punctual, and dependable.
- Willing to learn and take direction.
- Able to work independently once trained.
- Positive attitude and team-oriented mindset.
Work Authorization:
- Legal authorization to work in Canada.
Work Setting:
- On-site position. Work must be completed at the physical location; there is no option to work remotely.
