Key Responsibilities

In this role, you’ll be the go-to expert for all mining tire needs on site, ensuring our clients’ fleets operate safely and efficiently.

  • Execute all aspects of mining tire service, including the dismounting, mounting, balancing, and repair of giant OTR tires, strictly adhering to load and safety specifications.
  • Operate and maintain specialized heavy-duty equipment like tire manipulators, service trucks, and forklifts with precision and care.
  • Conduct thorough tire inspections and perform scheduled maintenance to prevent downtime and identify issues before they become problems.
  • Work collaboratively with onsite mine maintenance staff, providing timely tire services and supporting their operational goals.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, ensuring all tools and service equipment are in optimal working condition.
  • Assist with managing on-site tire and parts inventory, keeping the service area ready for any task.

Qualifications

We’re looking for a dependable professional who combines technical skill with a strong safety mindset.

  • A minimum of two years of hands-on experience as a tire technician, with a strong preference for background in mining or heavy industry.
  • Specific experience working on Komatsu haul trucks and Giant loaders equipped with protection chains is a significant asset.
  • Proven mechanical aptitude and the confidence to work effectively with minimal supervision in a dynamic environment.
  • The physical ability to safely lift heavy loads and perform demanding tasks in an outdoor, mining setting.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills, crucial for coordinating with both Kal Tire and client teams.
  • A valid driver’s license and the ability to meet our insurance requirements.
  • A secondary school diploma or equivalent; relevant trade certifications are highly valued.
