Key Responsibilities
As a Tracks Technician, you’ll play a vital role in maintaining the track networks across Auckland’s maunga.
- Carry out regular maintenance across a variety of walking tracks and trail networks, ensuring they remain safe and user-friendly.
- Respond to maintenance requests promptly, completing tasks within agreed timeframes.
- Assist with inspections and contribute to condition reporting, identifying issues early.
- Identify and report any issues that require larger-scale repairs or improvements.
- Maintain track surfaces, including top-ups and basic surface repairs.
- Clean and perform basic repairs on structures and drainage systems.
- Repair and reinstate edge boards where needed.
- Manage vegetation and weed growth to ensure safe access along tracks.
- Remove hazards to keep tracks safe and accessible for all users.
- Travel across Auckland’s 13 maunga as required, working in various locations.
Qualifications and Experience
We’re looking for someone with physical fitness, a proactive approach, and a commitment to safety.
Essential Requirements:
- A good level of physical fitness and willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- A keen eye for detail and a proactive approach to identifying issues.
- A strong work ethic and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A solid understanding of health and safety practices.
- A current full driver’s licence with the ability to drive a manual vehicle.
- In accordance with our Drug & Alcohol Policy, the successful candidate will be required to undergo and pass a pre-employment drug test.
Preferred (But Not Essential):
- Previous experience in track maintenance, landscaping, or similar outdoor roles.
- Knowledge of vegetation management and basic construction repairs.
- Familiarity with the Tūpuna Maunga or Auckland’s regional parks.
