What the Role Involves

  • Interpreting technical drawings and blueprints: You’ll need to understand the specs and fabricate accordingly—no guesswork, just solid work.
  • Using specialised tools: You’ll operate welding machines, cutting torches, and other equipment with skill and care.
  • Working to tight tolerances: Precision matters. You’ll need to hold yourself to a high standard and self-inspect your work against relevant codes.
  • Collaborating with the team: You’ll work alongside other tradespeople to make sure projects stay on track and get delivered on time.
  • Upholding safety standards: You’ll keep your workspace organised and follow safety protocols every day, without exception.
  • Working with MIG, FCAW, and MCAW processes: Proficiency with metal cored process is a major bonus—it’s our main process for defence contracts.
  • Demonstrating welding competency: All candidates must pass a pre-qualification weld test—4G single bevel FPBW with the FCAW process—and show competence interpreting technical drawings.

What We’re Looking For

  • Proficiency in reading and fabricating from engineering drawings this is essential.
  • Ability to read, understand, and comply with Welding Procedure Specifications.
  • Strong welding skills with experience in MIG, FCAW, and MCAW. Metal cored process experience is a major bonus.
  • Experience with AS1554.5 and defence codes is a bonus but not required.
  • Ability to self-inspect your work to the relevant code and hold yourself accountable for quality.

  • Strong timekeeping and excellent communication skills.
